Close 5 is a new app that reinvigorates the classifieds by helping users buy and sell home goods in their area on any mobile device. Close 5 launched in San Diego during the week of November 17, 2014 to help residents conduct safe transactions with others in the area.

Close 5 provides users with two key features, the ability to buy or sell locally on their mobile device. If a user needs to clear their cluttered home, they can quickly upload a picture of the item, list an asking price and submit. Interested shoppers can browse items for sale based on the location of the seller and bid on the products of their choice.

“It was our goal to develop an app that provided people with an easy and safe method to buy and sell locally,” said Bart Molenda, Head of Marketing at eBay Classifieds Group. “With Close 5, people can search what’s for sell near them without the anonymity of a traditional classified- resulting in a safer and locally beneficial transaction.”

Close 5 is available for free download on the iPhone App Store and Android Google Play. For individuals searching for a deal or hoping to sell items from their home, this is the perfect option. Users who purchase an item and choose to pick it up in-person, can learn more about the seller through their Close 5 profile.

San Diego residents who download the app and sign up during November 17-21, 2014 will have the opportunity to submit a photo of their messiest closet or garage for a contest. The winning participant will receive a gift certificate for a closet or garage makeover. In addition, Close 5 is celebrating the launch of the app by making a donation to a San Diego charity every time a person downloads the app.
