Exhibiting at an industry tradeshow can be an overwhelming experience due to the plethora of items that must be prepared in advance. Having worked with businesses offering consumer products or B2B services during a tradeshow, Marketing Maven has several tips that can help make the opportunity a fruitful one.

Plan a fun booth event to engage the audience

If it works within your budget, try to host an event or giveaway that will draw visitors to your booth. Even if it isn’t directly related to the product or service you are offering, it will get people interested in learning more about what you are exhibiting during the show. You never know who might stop by!

Have information readily available

Be sure to have product information available in a format that is simple to understand and easy for people to take with them. You want something that is precise and informative, including your website and contact information, so they can reach back out to you after they leave your booth.

Attend networking events

If there are enough people on your team to divide and conquer, make sure you are attending the info sessions and networking events that pertain to the industries and topics related to your company. This is a great way to meet others at the trade show who you may want to work with in the future.

Coordinate meetings with attending press

Be sure to request a media list from the person who helped coordinate your booth space. Some trade shows will be able to share this along with contact information, while others may only share the name of the media outlet and the title of the person attending. Either way, reach out well in advance of the show, preferably one month out, to let them know what you will be exhibiting and that you would like to meet in person.

Follow up with media after the show

Follow up is extremely important so that the media and other people you met at the show keep you at the forefront of their mind when they return to the office. This will be another way for them to remember what you were offering and how you’d like to continue working together.
